| Computer programming is like writing a recipe for a cook to follow. There are the required inputs, the ingredients; there is the processing, following the cooking steps; and there is the output, the food produced. There is an artistic component to computer programming, as it is a highly creative endeavor. A student of computer programming learns the fundamentals and spends a good deal of time writing programs that employ those fundamentals. At the community college level, a student might learn computer programming to prepare for a job, to advance in a current job, or to prepare for a four year degree in computer science. |
