| Computer forensics combines the technical knowledge and analysis of
computers and related equipment with the exacting demands of the
legal system. Computer forensics technicians locate computer and
other digital evidence, preserve and analyze it, and then report
their findings, often in a court of law. |
| Courses in computer forensics teach strategies and techniques in
conducting forensics investigations using specialized software and
cutting edge technology. This includes retrieving data from storage
devices such as hard drives, USB drives, and other forms of storage,
even after it was thought to have been erased. It also includes
determining the source of content over the network, including the
Internet. All of this takes place in an emerging, dynamic field that
requires a combination of technical skills and legal knowledge. |
